Cursed with terrrrrrrible skin!?

My skin sucks. I suffered thru acne as a teenager %26amp; now I still have remnants of blemishes %26amp; redness that never seems to go away. My face feels dry too. I think I have combination skin that I once thought was completely oily. I have tried absolutely everything %26amp; it seems that everything either doesn't work or dries out my skin.

I can keep my skin mostly under some control (minus here and there zits and stuff that always pop up) but I CAN'T get rid of the blemishes. I had tried Proactive when I was younger %26amp; it made my skin crusty dry before I could let it work so I had to stop. Would you recommend trying it again?

What else can I use to clear these blemishes and finally have smooth, not dry skin??!!

Cursed with terrrrrrrible skin!?

Reply:guys and girls: use tea tree oil as a face wash (i got it at body shop in the mall) and use...

for girls: Bare Minerals make up. it looks natural and will help clear your skin and make it healthier. it doesnt even feel like your wearing anything.
Reply:my skin gets really dry too..if its so dry its crusty try something not as harsh..then use a daily face moisturizer..i use velocity moisturizer by mary kay
Reply:This works for me, but I'm not sure we've got the same kind of skin.

I use "Clean %26amp; Clear" face wash, you can get it at the grocery store for pretty cheap. If you've got sensitive skin, I wouldn't recommend using the oxygenating facial scrub, but it's abrasive and it gets all the extra dirt off.

I wash my face every morning and every night, and afterwards, I use a Origins moisturizer. You can get it at the mall probably, and it's in a small green ceramic or glass bottle.

And before you go to sleep, you could try using Neutrogena anti-biotic and put them on your zits and blemishes.

I hope this helps!

If a 16 yr old female loses 37-40 pounds will she have loose flabby skin or be flabby?

if she isnt fat(just chubby/chunky) and the weight is NOT in one location such as the stomache but is an all overweight loss ???

is the loose skin only when a very obese person loses alot or someone loses a lot more weight very very very quickly ?some have lost over 100 and no access skin so since im young will i be ok?

If a 16 yr old female loses 37-40 pounds will she have loose flabby skin or be flabby?
You will be fine. Your skin will be tight and not loose. In fact, you will love the way you look.
Reply:the best way to avoid flabby skin is to lose weight gradually %26amp; slowly. the reason you see those women on tv who need plastic surgery after weight loss is usually because they lost it too rapidly due to a crash diet or stomach surgery. if you lose it more gradually by exercising and cutting back on portions, your skin will have time to shrink as your muscles grow.
Reply:lose the weight slowly %26amp; exercise %26amp; you should be fine...moisterize areas that may show stretch with cocoa butter to minimize that possibility...
Reply:i bet that you will be fine with no loose skin. however if that happens just do some exercises to tone the area up.
Reply:I'm not dermatolgist, but I think, at 16, your skin still has plenty of moisture and elasticity to accomodate such a weight loss. Just be sure that you lose the weight in a gradual, sensible manner and not on some ''crash" diet or starvation method.
Reply:i agree with everyone who says to lose the weight slowly....you'll be fine! good luck : )
Reply:Yes. But it might not be as bad as so people. When you gain weight the skin has to "stretch" to accommodate to weight gain, that's why you get stretch marks. However, if the person is young and weight was no concentrated in one area it might not be as bad. Working-out is key to having a tone body and this will help with avoiding the flabby look.
Reply:your young and still have alot of elasticity in yr skin. so as you lose and also do exercise you will tone up without a problem of any loose skin. read tips on weight loss that will help you more on this site

To dark skin black people, did you get teased for being dark skin?

I got teased all the time when I was younger for being dark skin. My family member hurted me the worst because of my skin color. It took me a long time before I started loving my skin. The first time someone told me my skin was beautiful was a white woman. She was so nice to me and she made me smile when I looked at my skin that day. So I wanted to know did other peope who are dark skin get teased for being dark? and when did you started to accept your dark skin.

To dark skin black people, did you get teased for being dark skin?
I started getting teased around the fifth grade for being dark skinned, but, I had a STRONG mother who instilled in me that "black is beautiful" and after hearing that from her all my life, I started believing it; and started carrying myself as such. I continued getting teased up until about the 7th grade; and by the time I got out of junior high and headed to high school, girlfriend, I had so much confidence, I scared myself (lol)... no, but, seriously, I started accepting my beautiful black skin, and I truly believe because I love myself so much it just oozes out of my pours and others can't help but to love me for who I am.

Good question...
Reply:realize the disadvantages of being lighter.. (my sister is light-skinned) .well for example..Bruises are more noticable, scars are as well.. pimples can be spotted from miles away and u have to be careful of not hurting urself so much so that u wont have so many cuts.. Report It

Reply:no 1 can really see the blemishes in my skin.. i love myself the way i am... Black and beautiful and i could give a rats *** what other people think.. hope this helped..L8erz Report It

Reply:i've been picked at for being light skinned, im so pale even white people call me whitey.
Reply:i'm not black, but that is beautiful. and kind of a white woman to do that. you really don't hear that everyday.

i have dark skin, but not dark enough to be black. probably dark enough to be like a hawaiian. it's natural too, and i hated how dark it was because nobody else in my family was this dark - they were all pale. i never got teased though, but people would always ask me if i go to tanning salons. i guess now i appreciate it because my skin tans easily, so i got this skin color pretty easily.
Reply:i never got teased for my skin, maybe because i was in the Caribbean(Trinidad) and nobody has time to do that really, nobody doesn't tease you unless its really bad like you stink or something i remember buying alot of nice smelling stuff for a girl cause her smell was so overbearing she smelt like BO and pee but anyways oh yea i just remembered i got teased by this Spanish dude name Gus all he could of teased me with was my skin being darker but his face was just in a mess he was so ugly i used to pick something everyday he just stopped BTW don't let anybody make you feel bad about yourself black is beautiful, your skin is probably flawless whoever made you feel that way is probably jealous cuz their skin dont look like rich dark chocolate!
Reply:I hope you don't get teased any more - it's so cruel what people do to each other sometimes, and I'm not just talking about kids.

I work with a beautiful gal who has fairly dark skin, but she's really sweet and her skin is very soft. Too bad (for me, anyway) that she's involved with someone.....
Reply:I can't really answer your question the way you want me to, but I think your skin tone is beautiful and exotic. That's why some white people go to tanning beds, they want your complexion.
Reply:I was looking at a mannequin display in a department store, and possibly dazed off. When I moved A bunch of people around me jumped - they thought I was one of the mannequins. After that my friends have always teased me for being too pale (no freckles, either!) but I've always been a little ashamed. (I don't tan, either, so there's no changing it.)

You get teased no matter what you look like - whether or not you take it to heart is what matters.

*sniff*
Reply:NICE...................
Reply:Dark is relative. In the black community I was never bothered because I am a literal average tone for blacks. When I went to my mostly white high school I came close to having to kill someone to end the harassment that even the teachers were in on. In my extended family, ignorance reigned so they also participated in color discrimination.

How did I come to love myself? My parents were great, but true love came from not focusing on the external, but focusing on improving myself. I am smart because I choose to be. I am talented because I have varied interests. I choose to be great so I am. Others can see the skin all they want, but it is just a shell to the marvelous being within. And yes, I think my skin is good looking too and I LOVE dark women with smooth pretty skin and lovely soft features so you've got a fan right here.
Reply:Yes, I was teased all the time for my dark complextion. Growing up, My parents always told me that i was beautiful. Ofcourse, that always seemed hard to believe, given that i always felt unaccepted by my peers. However, it was not until college that i really looked at my skin and embraced it.
Reply:Yes, My family spent a bit of time in a small town. I was the darkest child in school. My sister "bless her heart" got into a lot of fights over me. { my sister is blond - blue eyes - fair skinned, I of course had black hair, dark eyes and dark skin tone} She is 4 yrs older then I - and she took up for me until we moved to where there were ppl with my skin tone. I guess I was around 9 when I accepted myself thanks to an african-american woman who would always tell me how pretty she thought my skin tone was...
Reply:No! My problem was just the opposite, only worse. I am very light complected so I had a problem with people both Black and White. I tried so hard to identify or- fit in, that when I was 18, I thought about joining the Black Panther Party, just to express my so-called, "Blackness". On the flip side of that, most Whites thought I was Hispanic or Italian. Both are cool, but because I was raised "Black", I took offense. When "White" people find that I'm "Black", their immediate response is, "No! You can't be Black!" "You don't act or talk like they do?" First of all, who is they? I guess they felt/feel that way because I don't fit the stereotype.... Just because I'm intelligent and live in a nice neighborhood; 'does that disqualify me from being "Black"? My skin color also has it's advantages. I am/was able to use my color as a free ticket to get things and go places that were off limits to most "Blacks". The best part was, that waaay-waaay back in the day, most men my complexion were referred to as "Pretty boys". That was fine with me , cause back then, "Pretty Boys" pulled all the fine women!!! That trend has definitely changed since then.... With all that being said, one day I looked in the mirror and saw a man, a successful man who had finally grown to accept who God made him to be. I can go anywhere, with anyone, and be comfortable with who I AM! I like me! It proves that God has a sense of humor. Guess what? I think I turned out to be a pretty good guy.....Amen! NMT
Reply:It was kinda the opposite in my family. Half of us are kinda peanut butter colored. The other half is pretty light. We sometimes tease the lighter ones. I'm sure you know all the yellow jokes too. I think black is beautiful! Every summer I try to stay out in the sun just to get a little more color. :o)
Reply:Not at night because people couldn't see me. Daytime was a different story.
Reply:Yes, all the time. My great-grandmother used to always tell me "not to stay in the sun too long" when I was little and she used to pinch my nose so it would be smaller. My mother and grandmother were also hurt by this type of racism and till this day, even with the death of my great-grandmother,they are still angry at her for this. I was so ashamed of my dark skin for a while. But people say I'm beautiful and I have a nice complexion.

Have you ever done anything (non-surgical) for your skin that you really felt help reduce wrinkles?

Examples of the types of things I am looking would be...

*Started drinking more water

*Changed my diet (started eating foods high in antioxidants)

*Started using XYZ product

*Started getting weekly facials

*Started taking XYZ supplement

Just curious as to whether any of you have ever tried anything that really made you go "WOW, my skin truly looks younger/better!"

Have you ever done anything (non-surgical) for your skin that you really felt help reduce wrinkles?
1. Started drinking more water and unsweetened green tea.

2. Started taking a multivitamin every day.

3. Bought a pair of bath gloves JUST for my face and use them to exfoliate every day.

4. Stopped wearing makeup everyday (just on special occasions now).

5. Started going to an aesthetician once a month for facials with extractions.

6. Started taking more Omega 3 fatty acids.

I'm almost 40 and my skin looks great. Better than it did at 20!
Reply:I love Eucerin cream as an eye cream. It's cheap and works as well as those $300 a container stuff. You can slather it on your elbows and heels and other dry spots too.
Reply:MD Forte Products have worked wonders on my skin. Not only have wrinkles been reduced, but acne and the marks left behind have disapeared, sun spots are gone and my skin is smooth and tighter! I use the level III. They recommend that you start at a level lower and work up to level three. Good Luck!
Reply:As you've already said drinking loads of water definately helps. I also use Elizabeth Arden visible difference and Botanic (from Boots) eye and lip correction serum. The Elizabeth Arden cream can be quite expensive but Ethel Austin have got an offer on it at the moment for about £10 for three product incl visible diff. The Botanics Serum is about £10. I also use this Garnier face peel product every other day.

Ok it is a lot of hassle, but you get used to it. Also I always think that people with good skin look great even when they are perhaps not feeling that good. Quite a few people comment that I have really good skin with no wrinkles ( I have got wrinkles but then at least they are not as visible)

Oh, also a good nights sleep is supposed to help too - I never get that tho lol.

Hope that helps in some way

Reply:I dont think you can ever get rid of wrinkles, but you can reduce the appearance of them. I have tried a new product. I haven't used it regularly like they suggest because I'm just too busy and tend to forget I have it. But when I do use it, my skin feels younger and smoother. I use a Neutrogena Microdermabrasion system. I saw the Susan Lucci one advertised on tv and did my own research and looking around. Found this at my grocery store for the same price as hers, and I don't have to join some monthly automatic shipment club for supplies. It only takes a few minutes, and it takes away the dead skin cells and smooths those tiny dry skin pimples that always form on my forehead.
Reply:Hi, Yes, I found a product back in May that did exactly that for my complexion. There was such a difference that people started asking what I was doing. I started using a product from a company called Arbonne and it is their RE9 Anti-Aging line. You can view it in their online catalog at http://www.wonderful.myarbonne.com

Sensitive skin?

there is something wrong with my skin....if anyone touches me my skin turns red...and if someone even hits me lightly or if i scratch myself i get welts...its not painful but its embarassing...i cant hug people or kiss them on the cheek with out my skin turning red....ive had this since i was young but is it sensitive skin or is it something else?

Sensitive skin?
It is difficult for anyone to answer your question without seeing the welts you mention - even a doctor needs to see the welts to give you any kind of answer. What you describe almost sounds like a histamine reaction, which suggests allergies. I have a similar situation with my skin, but without the welts. If I wash my skin with even plain water my skin gets really red and inflamed.

If I were you I'd get an appointment to see an allergist or a dermatologist. There is no need for you to continue to struggle with the embarassment if it can be treated.

I am not rying to offer medical advice, and I am not a doctor. Having said that though, you could talk to your local pharmacist and see if they think it is safe for you to try taking diphenhyramine (one brand is Benadryl). This medication is an antihistamine used to treat allergies, so you could probably reassure yourself by trying it for a short period of time, say a few days. Do check with your pharmacist though, and be sure to tell him or her all of the medication that you take, including the over-the-counter kinds. Your pharmacist can advise you if there is anything to prevent you from trying this. You mention that the rash is not painful, but you do not mention if it is itchy. Urticaria, or itching, would also suggest allergies.

If you do try this, you will have a better idea of whether or not this is an allergic reaction. Please see a doctor. You needn't suffer like this any longer. Best of luck to you!

I hear that starting to use moisturizer on your face while u r young, helps keep u looking younger later..?

So does it matter what moisturizer I use? I'm only 21, but I figure taking good care of my skin now will also pay off later. I use Clean n' Clear Dual action moisturizer now, because I struggle a bit with zits around "that time of the month", and also experience a bit of dry skin. Is that a good moisturizer for me, or is there something better out there that wouldnt clog my pores, and would help keep my skin looking great and young?

I hear that starting to use moisturizer on your face while u r young, helps keep u looking younger later..?
Moisturising is a great start, but you should make sure you use one with sunscreen built in with an SPF of at least 15. This will definitely help in the long run, it will help stop wrinkles and that 'leathery' look that many older women get. The sun is really damaging to your skin so protect it always!
Reply:you're doing fine. You won't need anything stronger until you're in your early thirties. That's when you start needing more oils. Also, always drink plenty of water. It helps! (I know)
Reply:I know a 95 year old woman who's skin looks great, and she always says that its because she rubbed moisturizer on her face when she was young, so that's a good idea. Go for a non-comodegenic moisturizer (I'm guessing the one you have is non-comodegenic); it will say if it is on the label if it is.
Reply:CAn you believe my granny used vaseline? SHE looked young too.
Reply:Wash your face morning and night and use a moisturizer morning and night. Remove all make up with cold cream.
Reply:I'm 23 and people say i look 16-17. I've never used moisturiser in my life. I only use cleansers.I used to experience dryness but i started drinking more water and that helped heaps. Also having a good diet helps too. If that doesn't help there are natural remedies like natural yogurt on the skin for a few mins.

i recommend alternative remedies cuz a lot of the mainstream products out there now can be more damaging than good.

Do a google search on natural or home made moisturisers. At least you know whats in them.
Reply:That sounds like a perfect moisturiser for you, I've started my daughter on using one and she's only 8. she forgets most days but I think it's a good habit to get into, especially one with a sunscreen included

Am I too young to have wrinkles?

I am 26 years old, am an avid user of sunscreen, have a fair complexion (although I can tan without burning), and do not wear makeup. I eat well (no junk or fast food, no sodas) and drink water as much as possible. I find myself baffled by creases that have appeared on my forehead. I have

two horizontal lines coming in from either side of my upper forehead, about 2-3 inches long on either side. They don't appear as wrinkles or creases, but rather as indentations, as though my head had been resting on something. I

do not often wear hats, although I do climb and wear helmets at those times. I feel I take good care of myself and my skin, and am too young to reallythink that they are wrinkles. I am just wondering what these lines might be, and what might help me in reducing their appearance.

Am I too young to have wrinkles?
i think you could moisturize your skin more. i was born with eczema so i have had my share of learning about skin care. Vaseline intensive care lotion is a pretty good skin care product. it's been effective and it is inexpensive. i've also heard that sprouts are good for rejuvenating cell matter. you could work them into your diet.

i have located a skin care sight for you to peruse. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Skin_care . i really hope your concern is remedied.

take care.
Reply:Stop frowning maybe!

No really, it sounds like you have done all the right things, so it's probably just a genetic thing. I am 23 and starting to get crows feet around my eyes, my bf (23) has the same sort of thing as you on his forehead. I personally do not get hung up about it - I actually think it does give us character. Something I noticed is that I squint a lot in the sun so that may have contributed to mine... My bf frowns thoughtfully when he is concentrating very hard - which has probably added to his. So maybe try to be concious of making your expression neutral... But it really probably is genetic aswell!
Reply:If your lines are permanently present, then observe whether they get worse with movement. If they do then its an expression line caused by muscle contractions. To treat this they can be reduced in appearance with a glycolic acid product. If they don't get worse with movement then they are static lines caused by a lack of collagen and elastin. To treat this use antioxidants, vitamin A and peptides to get the bounce back.
Reply:Hydration is the key, I use a water based product that has been tested at 100% hydration and my face shows it. Greak on wrinkles too. I use the eye cream on my upper lip area and works. NO PARABENS OR PRESERVATIVES. It is the only skin care that the Japan Government has certified as 100% natural. Most products are giving us breast cancer with the preservatives and parabens. Check out your leading brands. They use harmful chemicals to make us look good. We are all going ot be pretty in a casket. Methyl Parabens, and every other kind of paraben. Go to the breast cancer site and research parabens and you will toss you products. I buy it from a gal named Allison. She gave me the site called www.revolutionaryskincare.info. her email is allidari@yahoo.ca.
Reply:Sounds like you take pretty good care of yourself. How about moisturizer? Be sure you use it - both men and women need it - skin is skin! Do you squint your eyes a lot (maybe from being in the sun, or from reading)? It could be that you need either glasses or different sunglasses to shade a larger portion of your eyes from sun and to protect from wind. Start really paying attention to when you squint, and what is causing you to do so.
