Watching National Geographic my son noticed that chimps in the same family - mothers and young, had different coloured skin. The mother had black skin and the young had pink skin.
Looking at the whole troop, they were mixed, some wholly black skinned, some wholly pink skinned and some a freckly mix.
Any explanations?
Chimps in the same family have different coloured skin. Why?
Just natural mutations. People in the same family can have slightly different skin tones. Both my sisters tan easily and are usually a little darker, like my dad, while my mom and I are both shockingly pale all year round, and just burn in the sun. It's the same thing in groups of chimps, some are naturally darker, some lighter, some mixed.
