Can a young, light-skinned, African-American female get a boyfriend in South Korea?

I'll be doing a homestay in Seoul soon and I want to try to make friends. I don't know how hard or easy that will be. Depending upon the situation, if I happen to be friends with a Korean guy and I end up liking him, should I generally expect for him not to date me? Be rude to me even? If I walked up to a Korean guy, introduced myself, made conversation, and asked him on a date would he snub me? Do Korean males generally not like black females? Also, I'm pretty tall...5'9" or 180 cm. Is that going to be a general problem too? Just something I'm wondering about. :-)

Real men who like real women don't discriminate. Just be yourself, learn about the Korean culture, have fun, and be friendly but not easy.....
Reply:sure why not?
Reply:honestly it might be hard to find a boyfriend but there will be korean guys who will like you. you just have to wait. i dont think the height will be much of a problem..theres lots of tall korean guys
Reply:from what my uncle told me there will be plenty of african-american-south koreans over there, they wernt over their to play hopscotch
Reply:No.
Reply:Kudos to you for having an open mind. I'm not sure what the dating scene is like in Korea, but I wish you well.
Reply:Yes, by all means. Korea is becoming more and more integrated, and you know as with all society, and all country, it's the man who usually have to do the work, so if you are proactive with the guy you are interested, I think the chances are you will like to result. I am aware that there are mutually negative sterotypes held against each other by both black females, and asian males, but there ought to be enough exceptions in the pool.

Best of luck to ya in South Korea.
Reply:it wouldn't be a prob!

good luck!
Reply:Impossible? No. But realistically, Korea (North and South) is the most homogenous country in the world. They stick to what they're comfortable with. Since you're staying in Seoul at least the people will be more open-minded. Tip: Koreans all follow peer trends. If you want a guy there to like you, then follow what the other girls are doing in terms of makeup, hair, and fashion. You'll fit in better then.
Reply:I actually am a Korean, and I think most Korean guys are attracted to girls of same heritage... and to be honest, Korea still does not entirely welcome a guy to date a foreign girl (or visa versa), apart from whatever race you belong to... but there are always exceptions are there are open minded guys out there. If you have an amazing personality, you would find a perfect Korean guy who would love you for who you are. good luck!
Reply:keep ur spirits high.... dont worry but dont be too nice to them, but if u think their ok go for it.... im a korean just to let you know. and of course u can get one, theres no real answer to that.... good luck!
Reply:Sure
Reply:you are definitely too tall!
Reply:yes
Reply:It is VERY hard for any foreigner to get into a Korean family,

Don't take it personally or racially.
Reply:There are LOTS of western guys out here. Try out one of them.

If you are of going-out age... go to Itewon and have fun.... meet lots of cool guys/ girls.

Besides.... the Korean guys are just kind of OK, the Korean girls are beautiful and will date ugly western guys.... go figure.
